Every time I return home from photographing the tear gas and shouting matches of local protests, my mother asks me the same question: "Why don't you tell the stories of the women who stay home?" She has lived most of her life in Kibera, and her quiet routines reflect those of countless other women here. For them, survival and keeping a household together during moments of political crisis is its own form of resistance. While the streets outside dominate the news, their daily work forms the unseen foundation that holds the entire neighborhood together when everything else stalls.

To truly understand the real issues she faces in her daily life, I had to force myself to ask her questions I couldn't ask before. Having grown up close to several sisters, it was only natural that when creating a platform like this, I needed to explore how they live their lives.

This space introduces the broader topic of the triumphs of women and girls, as well as the setbacks they must overcome. A vital part of this work is visual reparation. Women's issues have been marginalized in this community, and standard visual representations of development topics have not only stripped the subjects of their dignity but have also failed to reflect their true ambitions.

Over time, I will branch these topics out into various articles so they blend seamlessly into our profile features.
